I’ve used this plugin a number of times in the past without any issues.

However, after doing the reset yesterday, I was unable to login to my WP admin panel. I also couldn’t reset my password because WP no longer recognized my email or password.

My host (SiteGround) was also unable to log me in. They had to do a full restore of my site.

After the site was restored, I attempted to do the reset again and the exact same thing happened. So it was not just a one time issue.

  • I have the same problem. I can no longer login even though I received an email saying my account is the same and well as my password.

Do the developers never respond to posts? Not good support.

The developers never responded. You’ll have to contact your host – they were able to fix it for me but it was a big hassle. Since then I’ve stopped using WP Reset.

Thanks. I will talk to my host. Gotta love developers who do this.

Any recommendations for another similar plugin that actually works?

    Hello guys,
I’m sorry for not replying sooner.
I just took over maintaining this plugin and I’m still catching up.
A new version was released about 3 weeks ago which added compatibility with PHP7, added translations, & fixed some minor issues.
Have you tried the latest version?
If you’re still having an issue with this, can you please provide me with as many details about your host as possible?
So far I’ve been unable to replicate your issue and I’ve tried it on numerous hosts and configurations.

Same problem. SiteGround had to restore. Suspect cache somewhere but have cleared all cache I can find.

I understand the huge problems you get when inheriting a plugin. Thank you for your efforts to solve this.

@webezein I tried HostGator, 1&1, SiteGround (with the SG-Cache plugin active) & Bluehost.
Those are the most-used shared-host companies so I use those to test everything.

However I was unable to replicate this on any of them.

The hardest part about fixing an issue is not fixing it but figuring out what the issue is in the first place!
So far I can’t seem to pinpoint when this happens.
I’ll keep testing it, but if anyone comes along this thread and has info on how to replicate this issue please do let me know.

    Hello,
I have the same problem, except that I also get a 500 server error when attempting to reset the password. If you wish to replicate the problem I am happy to provide you with login and FTP info. I don’t think testing through various hosts will help.
    Thank you,
    Bonnie

Hello, i have posted on the other topic:

    Hello,

I have used WordPress Reset to deal with duplicate content from importing demo twice by accident. Now the site is out of order. I can’t at all get on to page, even the login page. The website is non existing…

This is the error message that i received :

    The page isn’t redirecting properly
Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.
This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies.

    what can i do?

    Thank you for your help

    Johanna

Deactivate all your plugins. Then reactivate them.

I deactivated the plugins by changing the plugins directory name in wp-content to “plugins-deac.” I was then able to access the admin area. then go back and restore the plugins directory name.

    This worked for me.
