Unable to login and getting the following error showing in the Debug report window: REMOTE_ADDR = IP0

Also, many of my customers have been reporting lockouts (we are running WooCommerce) and being unable to login on a seemingly random basis.

Reading through an old post here in the support forum, I saw that it was previously suggested that there may be a server misconfiguration causing the error.

Also, I am wondering if IPv6 might be causing the login failures since I am using a Cloudflare VPN app on my phone’s personal hotspot so both my phone and laptop are currently sending the same IP. I was able to login using my admin account but not my test customer account.

    Q. If it is a server misconfiguration, specifically what would be causing it?

    Q. If it is IPv6 how to rectify the plugin settings?

    Ideas?

    Many thanks in advance.

This issue should not be related to IPv6. 1. Do you see different IP addresses in the lockouts log or they look ALMOST the same? 2. Can you check if any of them belong to Cloudflare? 3. If you log in from another IP (change it in your VPN), do you get locked out immediately?

    Many thanks for responding.

Good to know that IPv6 is not causing the lockouts.

Unfortunately, the logs from two weeks ago, when the bulk of reports were received have since been cleared so I am unable to lookup any of the IP addresses. However, I will closely monitor the things you have listed next time we get very busy if we start getting reports again.

    Many thanks again.
