The site is working – freesources.co.uk
I can register and log in as a new user
However I am unable to login as admin – it will let me know if I have entered the incorrect password but on entering the corretc password I get an INTERNAL SERVER ERROR – 500 message.

I have requested a new admin password successfully but the same issue occurs. I have changed the .htaccess as some other forum entries have suggested and changed the permissions on the folder to 755 and on the index.php file to 644 as suggested.

I use a plugin for the login element but do not remember which one.

I am an intermediate user but am no good at myphpadmin so id this is the solution then please spell out the steps for a mysql newbie

Cheers and hope you can help

    Jonathan

  • I suggest you ftp to site and rename your plugins folder
this will deactivate all plugins and let you log in and figure out which one is messing with you

Great – I didn’t know you could simply rename the plugins folder without killing the rest of the site – I’ll se how I get on

    Cheers for the help

I renamed my plugin folder logged in succesfully and then renamed my plugin folder to its original state then refreshed admin page and updated all plugins which needed updating (7 of them) logged out to check I could log back in and everything is working OK now

    RESOLVED

    Cheers
