• Resolved clife

    (@clife)

Hi Please can someone help me urgently.

I have a WP site at https://counsellinglife.com and had a user eacweb that was registered we were registering a new user for the account clife set it up so we thought, and someone deleted the user eacweb. When we try to log in under clife it says user not activated when we try eacweb it says user not registered we cannot access the site at all.

Is there anyway that we can access the site to correct this problem please.

Any help will be really appreciated

    regards

  • The new user appears in the Users in the left hand menu of the dashboard and is listed as an administrator.

You should be able to log out of your WordPress site and use that new username and password to log back in as that user. However, you might first need to clear your browser’s history, cookies, saved passwords, site preferences and such if you are having difficulty there.

clife also appear in the MySQL file as an administrator but when I go to log in I get the error.

There is where we need to get something sorted out. There is no MySQL file involved here. wp-config.php is the file that has the information *WordPress* needs for “logging in” at your server in order to access your database and do its own work there, exclusively, but nothing in wp-config.php is related to logging in at your site unless someone has used the same username and password to also be a *site* login, a bad idea.

The only way I can log in as clife is to enter clife as the username…while it is thinking about logging in the username changes to eacweb…

Where? Are you speaking of the username box at the login screen?

but when I am logged in in the top right hand corner it says welcome clife.

I do think clearing all login info from your browser might help here since your browser seems to be trying to do your thinking and selection for you.

    Hi
I have tried first off clearing download/browser/cookie from settings, then I logged into the website dashboard but only by using eacweb +password it did not recognise clife.

I went to clife user page and changed the password again, then I logged out and rebooted computer

I went to log in screen eacweb and password are already on log in page. I deleted them but as soon as I go to enter clife eacweb pushes in at the start with clife at the end.

The only way I can prevent this is to delete the username and enter the passweord for clife first I then enter clife in the username. it goes off eac web appears and I log into the dashboard but find that I have logged in under clife by the message in the top right hand corner which is correct just wondered why eacweb and password appeared as I logged in.

    regards

I have tried first off clearing download/browser/cookie from settings

That is not enough since this has nothing to do with downloads. You need to remove all login info stored in your browser so it will put nothing at all in any login username or password box until after you have again checked “Remember me” at the time of a first-login.

    Hi leejosepho

Many thanks for your kind help it is appreciated.

Your last message prompted me to remember that I have password management software installed and the EAC u/n & p/w would be held in there (DUH!!!!) it was just a matter of going into the library and deleting the u/n & p/w and Hey Presto! everything looks great.

I thank you not just for your help but also for your patience in helping me it really is appreciated.

I wish you a very happy Christmas and a successful 2015

    regards
