The new user appears in the Users in the left hand menu of the dashboard and is listed as an administrator.
You should be able to log out of your WordPress site and use that new username and password to log back in as that user. However, you might first need to clear your browser’s history, cookies, saved passwords, site preferences and such if you are having difficulty there.
clife also appear in the MySQL file as an administrator but when I go to log in I get the error.
There is where we need to get something sorted out. There is no MySQL file involved here. wp-config.php is the file that has the information *WordPress* needs for “logging in” at your server in order to access your database and do its own work there, exclusively, but nothing in wp-config.php is related to logging in at your site unless someone has used the same username and password to also be a *site* login, a bad idea.
The only way I can log in as clife is to enter clife as the username…while it is thinking about logging in the username changes to eacweb…
Where? Are you speaking of the username box at the login screen?
but when I am logged in in the top right hand corner it says welcome clife.
I do think clearing all login info from your browser might help here since your browser seems to be trying to do your thinking and selection for you.
