Unable to log in

  • Not sure of version because I can’t log in but just downloaded and installed it today.

    I have tried for hours to log into my new site but can’t. I am using the info that was emailed to me and I have copied and pasted the user and pw at least 10 times. I have made sure not to have extra spaces & can’t see any problem. It just keeps erasing what I put in and going back to the blank boxes for user and pw.

    Maybe something when wrong during your installation.

    Did you try to reset the password, by clicking lost your password link in login page, and sending a new password to your email?

    If it doesn’t work, you can try reset password from your database by accessing your web hosting control panel. But be careful not to break other things. The following is a good tutorial on this.

    Thanks for the help.

    Since everything was new, & I’m not real advanced, it was easier to uninstall and start over, which I did so I could be sure there was no problem with login info.

    I reinstalled, had the login info sent to me which matches what I put in (I copy and paste from the email) and still every time I click login, it goes back to blank again-no error message etc. The url https://www.TeriRose.com shows the new blog but I can’t log in from there either. I tried to have password emailed and when I click, it goes back to a blank box-no error message.

    Please help if you have any ideas where to look for the problem. Everything is fine with the server and I can log into my other wp site
    https://PeaceOfSuccess.com without a problem.

    I check your blog, your url structure is wrong.
    https://www.peaceofsuccess.com/terirose.com/
    It does not make sense to have a dot com nested within a dot com.

    It should be https://terirose.com/
    however entering this url will redirect to the above wrong url structure.

    If you got cpanel at your web hosting, set terirose.com to point directly to your terirose.com WordPress installation folder. Do not use the above url structure. You can ask your web hosting support about this if you are not sure. You may have to reinstall WordPress after successfully pointing to the folder.

    Why?

    When I viewed your HTML source code of your login page,
    Your login form is sending its login data to
    https://terirose.com/wp-login.php which is different from
    https://www.peaceofsuccess.com/terirose.com/wp-login.php
    you present login page url!

    I am sure that after you have corrected your url structure and probably reinstall WordPress, you will be able to login.

    Remember. Your login url should be https://terirose/wp-login.php other than this in your browser url, is likely to be wrong!

    Thank you so much for leading me in this direction.

    For future reference-
    My hosting service used your information to find a problem with my addon terirose.com. I have been uploading it with Fantastico and choosing terirose.com from the dropdown but it keeps installing it on peaceofsuccess.com/terirose.com. (That is listed in the dropdown but I have not chosen it. I installed and uninstalled it 3 times on terirose.com.)

    Since the first level tech couldn’t fix it by removing the addon name and re-creating it, it was passed on to a higher level. They are in the process of removing everything associated with it and re-adding terirose.com to resolve it.

    When I now try to login here is what I get.

    I am now unable to log in and the blog has no more theme. What happened?
