    I am getting the following error when trying to update to wordpress 4.1

    Unable to locate WordPress Root directory.

    Installation Failed

    I my wp is installed in the root directory.

    Make sure the ftp user credentials you are supplying is correct. If you feel 100% certain that the user credentials you are entering for the ftp account are correct, but you still receive the error, try connecting with an ftp client to verify that you still have access to the ftp account outside of WordPress.

    I’m able to connect to ftp outside WordPress. I was able to manually update it through ftp but my concern is updating themes and plugins etc…

    Ownership issues maybe? I’m stumped. There are lots of discussions surrounding the error message, however.
