Unable to join the meeting

  • Hi,

    I have installed bigbluebutton on dedicated serveur with Ubuntu server 14.04 64 bit.

    On my website on WordPress, i have installed the plugin of bigbluebutton. In first time, i have tested in local environment et i can create and join meetings. No problem.

    But on the same website on my online serveur, the join fonctionality not working and an error occured :

    “Unable to join the meeting. Please check the url of the bigbluebutton server AND check to see if the bigbluebutton server is running.”

    The URL server and Salt are correct. Moreover, this error occure with the defaults parameters.

    Hi Kev,

    Well, try using the URL and share secret provided by default. If that works then it is not a problem with the plugin. You can ask fr help in the bigbluebutton-setup mailing list https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/bigbluebutton-setup

    If it doesn’t work with the test-install server then you probably have issues with the communication between servers. You can test that by running a in the wordpress erver console

    wget -qO- https://test-install.blindsidenetworks.com/bigbluebutton/api

    You should get something like this as response

    <?xml version=”1.0″?>
    <response>
    <returncode>SUCCESS</returncode>
    <version>0.81</version>
    </response>

    With the same principle you can try pinging your server too.
