  • Have you updated the nameserver settings for your domain to point to your new hosting server? If you have don’t panic – it can take up to 72 hours for these to propegate around the world, so be patient. If yo uhaven’t, then you will need to do that before you can do anything else. Your hosting company will be able to give you the details that you need ot enter, and your domain company will be able to show you where they need to go.

    Greetings Catacustic (interesting name:))!

Yes, I’d already updated my nameserver so that my domain pointed to my hosting site. I completed this step two days ago.

Based on the information provided in my two msgs, what you do recommend my next step be? Anyone else with this issue, or out there who can provide advise, please do so

It can take up to 72 hours for name server changes to propagate fully.

You can check that your nameserver settings are pointing to the right place at https://www.whois.org so check there and see if they are right. If they are, get your hosting company to sort it out because if you’re pointing the site at the right server then it should be working. if it doesn’t work then your hosting company needs to sort it out. Unfortunately that’s all that anyone can do.

Not sure what I’m looking for on whois.org. HostGator is the where I purchased my hosting site from; Register.com is where I originally purchased my domain name. Here is what came up on whois.org:

    Domain ID:
    Domain Name: nwankpaenterprises.com
    Created On: 27-May-2013 00:00:00
    Expiration Date: 27-May-2014 00:00:00
    Sponsoring Registrar: REGISTER.COM (REGISTER.COM)
    Status: ok
    Name Server: dns010.d.register.com
    Name Server: dns071.a.register.com
    Name Server: dns080.b.register.com
    Name Server: dns126.c.register.com
    Registrant ID: Unknown
    Registrant Name: Gesla Nwankpa
    Registrant Organization: Unknown
    Registrant Street1: ****
    Registrant Street2: Unknown
    Registrant Street3: Unknown
    Registrant City: ****
    Registrant State/Province: ****
    Registrant Postal Code: ****
    Registrant Country: US
    Registrant Phone: Unknown
    Registrant Fax: Unknown
    Registrant Email: Unknown
    Admin ID: Unknown
    Admin Name: Gesla Nwankpa
    Admin Organization: Unknown
    Admin Street1: ****
    Admin Street2: Unknown
    Admin Street3: Unknown
    Admin City: ****
    Admin State: VA
    Admin Postal Code: ****
    Admin Country: US
    Admin Phone: ****
    Admin Fax: Unknown
    Admin Email: [email protected]

What exactly am I looking for–should something under nameserver be different, since my hosting site is hostgator?

    Yes, it should.

You see, when I said “nameserver” before, I meant “nameserver”. Easy to get confused… ??

    Name Server: dns010.d.register.com
    Name Server: dns071.a.register.com
    Name Server: dns080.b.register.com
    Name Server: dns126.c.register.com

That says that either you haven’t updated the nameservers correctly or you need to be patient. Check that with your registrar and if they are right wait a while longer. if they aren’t right, then fix it. They should be pointing to Hostgators nameservers, not these ones.
