• I’m brand new. Just purchased my first domain YESTERDAY from BlueHost, then tried to install WordPress using their one-click installer. First, a MOJO Marketplace looks up my account. Then I click START for WordPress version 3.8.1, Then I click “Check Domain”. After a minute it kicks back an error: “There was an error when attempting to upload a file to your account. FTP ERROR: Unknown error – Probable communication failure or missing path” Is it possible that I need to go through a waiting period before this installation will work? I’m really confused. Maybe I missed a step between buying the domain and installing WordPress? I’m really confused.

Thank you for helping. But, sorry, I don’t know what that means… “FTP”. Like I said, I’m brand new. Sorry if I sound dumb, but the truth is, I am when it comes to this stuff.

This sounds like a bug on BlueHost one-click installer. Maybe you should check it with their support.

Have you tried contacting Bluehost about this?

Yep, I did the online chat. But my confidence plummeted right away because the guy asked why I was calling, even after I had written out a detailed description of my problem. Then every five minutes the guy would say “try it again now”. Over and over, every five minutes. I started to believe he was doing nothing and perhaps he was busy eating his lunch or playing a game. Finally, I volunteered that I had “just purchased the domain only two hours earlier”. Then, after a long wait, he said I hadn’t waited long enough, and to wait longer before trying again.

I volunteered that I had “just purchased the domain only two hours earlier”

It can take up to 72 hours for a newly registered domain name to propagate fully and be ready to use. So I would suggest that you wait for a couple of days and then try again.

OK, Great…!!! Too bad BlueHost doesn’t have a message window that alerts us to that fact. It certainly would have saved me from this anxiety (ha ha). Thank you so much for this information ??

My account has been with them for 5 years and I’m getting this error when I’m trying to install WP through their/mojo’s 1 click installer. I’ve used it dozens of times in the past without issue. Guess they must have updated it or something – guess I’m going to have to do it old school and FTP it and create the DB myself.

@hyperhyper: If you require assistance then, as per the Forum Welcome, please post your own topic.

I’ve been with Bluehost for several years and installed WordPress dozens of times. I’ve gotten the same error message and on the Cpanel for some of my sites the one-click installer doesn’t even show up. I finally connected with a service rep at Bluehost who admitted that Mojo marketplace just isn’t working on Bluehost servers at this time.

    Hello,

If you are having trouble installing using their application, install the WordPress site manually via FTP.

@tonyleeharvey – please start your own thread if you need additional help – this one is 11 months old! And not likely the identical situation as yours since your site is not identical.
