    Hi,

We have been having issues installing and updating the plugin on many of our sites via WordPress as we get the following error message: Update Failed: Could not copy file. google-pagespeed-insights/lib/google-api-php-client/vendor/google/apiclient-services/src/Google/Service/Pagespeedonline/ResultFormattedResultsRuleResultsElementUrlBlocks.php

It appears that this is happening because we are running the sites on Windows (yes, I know, this is the business decision and is out of the hands of us mere developers), which has a file path limit of 260 characters.

The path in question is: C:\inetpub\wwwroot\XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX\wp-content\upgrade\google-pagespeed-insights-XXXXXX\google-pagespeed-insights\lib\google-api-php-client\vendor\google\apiclient-services\src\Google\Service\Pagespeedonline\ResultFormattedResultsRuleResultsElementUrlBlocks.php which is over the limit.

Would it be possible to re-structure the vendor libraries in a future release so as to shorten the path and allow it to work on Windows?

Currently the only way we can update the plugin is to manually download it and upload it to the plugins directory, which is not an ideal solution when managing 75 sites.

    Thanks,
    Jim

    Hey Jim,

The good news is that in future releases I will not be using this Google PHP library. It is becoming more trouble than it is worth, and it hasn’t been updated to support the latest version of the pages API.

I’m not sure exactly when I’ll get a new version out with the busy holiday season upon us but it is a high priority for me.
