    Hi guys,

I’ve been setting everything up manually before (including website crawls and additional sheets).
So i’m very happy with this direct and free option.

However getting it to work has failed until now.

At first it didn’t recognize the existing merchant accounts.
Now it does but it created new accounts.
Does the plugin not accept multi-domain accounts? Since there is one main account with different subdomains/merchant centers, which is not recognized.

Apart from that, trying to verify the ”newly created accounts” does not work (either) since it gives the alert: unable to insert site verification.
I tried different browsers, cleared cache and waited for a few days (since the plugin is quite fresh), but no luck.

    Could you help me out?
I saw that no-one had this problem before?

    Thanks in advance,
    Bas

    Hey @basso1

Thanks for taking the time to message.

    > So I’m very happy with this direct and free option.

    That’s great to hear.

    > At first it didn’t recognize the existing merchant accounts.
    > Now it does but it created new accounts.

Would you be able to clarify what the UI/UX looked like for you? Did it create an account for you instead of using an existing one?

    > unable to insert site verification

Just checking, have you confirmed the “google-site-verification” meta tag is not visible in site HTML?

One thing to check is the wp_options table for gla_site_verification and let us know what value (if you have a value there).

    > Does the plugin not accept multi-domain accounts? Since there is one main account with different subdomains/merchant centers, which is not recognized.

Are you referring to a multi-client account? https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/188487?hl=en-AU

Support here is limited at the moment – we’d typically (at the moment) to direct advanced users to manage things themselves. But I’d be happy to chat offline to get your thoughts on functionality that would be useful – let me know.

    Hi @basso1,

    Just one other thought on

    > since it gives the alert: unable to insert site verification.

Do you have any security plugins installed or similar that would be blocking Google from visiting/verifying the meta tag. We just stumbled across another site using a service that was geoblocking.

Thanks for getting back to me, really appreciated!

<em>It didn't display any existing accounts, trying to connect didn't work, the only option was to create a new account, which didn't respond as wel. Only after logging in, an hour after, the newly created account showed up. (I only realised later this was a new account, when I visited the merchant center, next to the multi-client account. So it did not come out of nowhere, but it left me confused at first.</em>

<em>It is visible, I also use Google Site Kit, which also used the verification.</em>

    <em>It says: SERIALIZED DATA</em>

Yes that is what I mean, since it was advised to use the multi-client account when you have a few small web shops and one e-mail/google account user. By mention the limited support, you mean that this plugin at the moment does not work with multi-client accounts? I think it is not a big problem to set up single clients, though, if that’s the only way.

Refering to Google Site Kit, where the verification worked and after checking all the installed plugins, unfortunately this is not the case.

Hope this information helps you to locate the problem.

    Best regards
    Bas

I have the same issue. Not able to verify.
Do not have plugins installed that would block.
Account in Google Merchant has the site verified.

    Hi @lioneldaniel

Thank you for coming back on the matter of the multi client being supported. That sounds great.

However, apart from that, also with the newly created merchant accounts I got the unable to verify error, so that remains the main issue.

Hi @basso1 do you mind sharing some of your system status info – what extensions you are using, the site domain etc. so I can get a feel for your setup. Do you have any caching in place?

    Thread Starter basso1

    (@basso1)

    Hi @jconroy,

    Extensions as in plugins or?
A lot of WooCommerce plugins, jetpack (free version without anything exciting enabled), Google sitekit etc.

No caching as I am aware of.

    It handles the following domains:
    tsquarelifestyle.nl
    Strandhuys.eu
    Regenjasbrigade.nl

    > Extensions as in plugins or?

Yes sorry, in Woo they are generally referred to as extensions, but technically they are plugins. My bad.

    > It handles the following domains:

Ok interesting. Is that a WP multi-site installation?

I can see a lot going on with google-site-verification tags in your headers and a bunch of extensions adding them.

If you create a WooCommerce support ticket if you are up for it I’d be keen to organize a Zoom to discuss/learn more about your setup.

    Hi Jason,

I just created a support ticket at Woocommerce!

Hope to hear back from you, over there.
To be clear, no it is not a WP multi-site installiaton, they are all single operating.

Thank you for your help again.

    Hi @basso1

    Thanks for confirming that.

I’ll mark this thread as resolved and we’ll continue to look into this with you on your ticket.

    Thanks!
