unable to insert image from Next Gen gallery

Am using nextGen 2.0.33, when I click on insert image to post, the selected image details disappear and just get a white screen, and no image inserted in the post.
What is the issue and how can it be resolved.
Nextgen appears to be very sluggish as well.
