    Hi,

I have recently taken over the management of the site jesshickman.com. My client has several downloadable products available, however despite being live for nearly 2 years when a customer tried to download the product using the link in the woocommerce generated email they get the message ‘Unable to insert download log entry in database.’

I have read several other threads about this issue but have been unable to find a solution. The threads also all seem to be at least 11 months old, nothing recent. I have checked all the settings on the site for woocommerce and everything is set-up fine and the link to the document in the product is correct. Have also tried deactivating and reactivating woommerce, clearing cache, deactivating other plugins, nothing helps. I believe this issue started after a recent update to both WP and woocommerce, but can’t be sure exactly when or what update.

    Appreciate your help.

    Thanks.

    Hi @sophdurham ,

    Thanks for reaching out!

I understand that customers are receiving the error ‘Unable to insert download log entry in database.’ when attempting to download their product.

In order for me to get a better understanding of the site setup, could you please share a copy of the sites System Status, which can be found by navigating to WooCommerce > Status. Select ‘Get system report’ and then ‘Copy for support’.

Once you do this, you can paste your response here.

    Thanks!

    Hi there!

    Thanks for contacting us!

I understand your customers are getting Unable to insert download log entry in database. message when they try to download the purchased digital files.

There may be an issue with the database table _wc_download_log.

I’d suggest installing a database plugin like phpMyAdmin, and dropping/deleting the table named _wc_download_log

(Be sure to take a full backup of your site before doing such database changes.)

Once done, you could try deactivating and reactivating WooCommerce – or use the Verify Database tool under WooCommerce > Status > Tools. This will regenerate the _wc_download_log with correct structure.

Let us know how that goes! ??
