Unable to import Featured Image information

I started the process of transferring from .com to .org today. If the WordPress Importer plugin worked as it should, this would have been cake. I have ran into several bugs with it and fortunately have at least now gotten to a point where I believe I have all my posts, pages, media, and feedback. But what is still missing is the featured image designation for all of my posts. This is totally vital to my theme’s layout. I can not go through hundreds of posts to reassign each featured image. Any ideas?

I already tried running the Media Tools plugin, it looks like it worked to assign a featured image for some very old posts but the majority are still without a featured image. When it runs it states “featured image already assigned” next to all of the posts but that just isn’t true.

Looked into many other plugins but none looked promising.
