In what can be terms as the biggest nightmare of my life, I find myself clinging my hope on your plugin, which to begin with failed to take a backup (export) but nevertheless left in its file directory a .wpress file that after account restore I am unable to apply.

To cut the story short I lost my site due to a glitch that i don’t want to get into details of at this point, but the point is I was unable to take backup of current site, so had to restore entire account from yesterday’s backup…which went well, all sites except one got reinstated. This site is the one in which earlier an attempt was made to take a backup using your plugin but like everyone else I read here…after archiving the files 100% the wheel kept turning and I never got the option of download…this is not the 1st time actually its been happening since a while and I have kept the plugin upto date, but that never helped.

To my badluck the backup restoration was able to restore account and files but not database. now I have that .wpress file in backup and when I try to import it….complete the upload, gives the warning that everything will be over writing…and starts the process of restoration but less than halfway without completing 100% declares the import is successfully…but when I see the site…there’s nothing.

My question to you is … is there a solution to this …and is there a way to extract just the dB from .wpress file…cos I have other files…I am just missing the latest dB which has EVERYTHING….and your .wordpress file is the only last backup (supposedly) I have in hand to extract it from.

Sorry for the long message, but I hope it helps you understand the matter at hand and my agony.

Oh and Did I mention that running export was the last function I did before applying restoration. and had to “cancel” export after over an hour of waiting. Something tells me that may have something to do with the dB not getting reinstated?

Just an update…I’ve moved the .wpress file to ai1wm-backups folder from where it gets detected in the list of backups under your plugin, but when I try to restore it mostly just completes 4% restoration and then posts successful message immediately. Needless to say nothing gets restored.

Perhaps I can arrange give you a private access to the file, so your engineers can have a look at it?

    Hi premiumBH,

Thank you so much for reaching out to us.
From what you describe, it looks like your site was not fully exported, that is why the file ended up in storage directory instead of wp-content/ai1wm-backups – there was also no download button popping for you to download the .wpress file and no database in your .wpress file.
This usually happens when you do not have enough disk space on the server.

Could you make sure that you have at least 3 times of your site available and attempt to export again?
You can reach out to me at support at servmask.com for faster assistance.

    Thank you!

Thank you for your response Pim,

    1. site is 240MB and available space on server is 18+GB …. so thats not the case.

    2. As detailed above…the previous site and everything along with it is gone, account has been restored to previous day… so 1st of all restore cannot be attempted again, and 2ndly after backup restoration the database has been completely – which should not have happened as backup should have it, but for some reason its either not there or its not getting applied, which leaves me with this incomplete backup file to try to retrieve something from.

Would it be possible to convert this .wpress file to .zip? then I can extract it and see if the dB file is there or not?

    Thank you!

    dropped u a mail there.

Well after having WP Clone bite the bullet it was recommended to try your plugin which did the export fine. It is a 90 MB file and the issue is we have been trying to import the file and it hangs at 1% after about 40 mins we figure this plugin is not working either. Any suggestions?

I am sorry for the inconvenience, Nu Eranet.
Could you try uploading your .wpress file via FTP to wp-content/ai1wm-backups and then restore it by using the Backups section instead?
