I’m sure I’m missing something obvious but I cannot get the Trackme Android App to post to my wordpress site. I’ve set a user up on wordpress, added this to the android app, added my address in the URL Header section and the app says it uploads the position correctly but no tracks ever appear in my Trackserver Manage tracks section.

Any ideas what I’m doing wrong please?
    Thanks
    Jon

Well well, I spent ages trying all sorts of things and the lodged the support request and within seconds tried once again changing the user and it worked!

What I did the first time was use a user I had specially created called GPS. This connected fine (I tested it by changing the password and watching it fail because I’d done so) but no tracks ever appeared. It was an Administrator.

What I did to get it to work was to use the site admin user. Worked first time. Hope this helps someone.

And as a matter of interest I’m using the Android Trackme on a Blackberry 10 Z30.

    Hello Jon,

I apologize for not responding any sooner. I only just now figured out how to follow this forum via email and I’m not used to coming to this forum often, so I simply did not see your messages.

It is definitely not meant to work the way you describe, so I’ll have to look and see if I can find what is wrong.

Trackserver uses a custom capability for using the tracking functionality, that is added to the administrator, editor and author roles. From Trackerver’s perspective, any user that has any of those three roles is treated identically and the site admin should not have any rights that other admins do not.

Please make sure you use the latest version (1.4) and to be sure that installation was complete and the capabilities were in fact added, you could disable and re-enable the pluging once.

I wonder if that helps. I know the system isn’t perfect yet and changes in this regard will land in version 1.5.

Please let me know if you have questions.

    Best regards,
    Martijn.

Thanks Martijn, it’s actually working fine as I described in post 2 but I’m now intstalling the latest update to see how that works with my Blackberry Z30.

I do have issue with a theme conflict on wordpress though. I have added [tsmap track=live align=center class=mymap markers=true color=#ff0000] to a page and this works fine on a page but the page is used by my theme to generate a thumbnail page https://www.lindaandjon.co.uk which then never draws the map. Have you any ideas why this may be please?
    Thanks
    jon

I have no doubt that this is an excellent plug-in. But to track in real-time, unfortunately, it did not happen.

    Can you be more specific?

    Regards,
    Martijn.

I installed the plugin. Created user. Create a new post with the tag from this user: [tsmap track=live align=center class=mymap markers=n color=#ff0000]. OruxMaps set up as shown in the screenshots. But the map is not tracked by the user’s location.

Does a track appear in the Track Management page of Trackserver? If not, can you check the contents of the ‘wp_ts_locations’ and ‘wp_ts_tracks’ tables in your WP database?

I would love to help you find out what’s wrong, but you’re not nearly giving enough information.

    Regards,
    Martijn.

No, the tracks do not appear on the page control tracks and the table ‘wp_ts_locations’ and ‘wp_ts_tracks’ missing. When you download a file in Manage trasks continually shows: could not be validated as GPX 1.1

The Manage tracks indicate the number of tracks, but they are missing the track list.

I would like to add that I have 1.6 installed and I am not getting any tracks uploaded to the manager either. I have tried both trackme and oruxmap

I have been over the settings a good few times . I had only 1 user which is an overall administrator for the blog. I created a second User as an author and updated settings on the app which made no difference. I tried removing the “/” in the path names because where you describe the slug , it has a / after it .. But not in the full description below. This didn’t work either.

What you are trying to develop is precisely the plugin I am looking for and I hope you can get a fix or put me in the right direction as I am going on a very long charity bike ride and I want to be able to show people where I am !
    Thank you !

I would like to add that wp_ts_tracks is being populated or at least incremented on each new track that is started With oruxmap
If you need me to export what I have , please let me know

is there any way to solve our common problem?

Trackme is now functioning , for me it was the Server extension .. case sensitive !

oruxmap is still not working , the database is updating with new tracks but nothing is showing up in the “Manage Tracks” As @tefal says the Manage Tracks is showing the number of tracks available , but nothing is listed. Shown as below in the pictures

    Hi,

Sorry to both of you for the late reply, I have been away for a few days.

You have clearly hit a bug in Trackserver, and of course I want to fix it. I’m just not sure how to go about it, since I cannot reproduce the bug.

I am interested in the exact query that Trackserver is doing on the database for showing the list of tracks. Are you up to editing a file to test this for me?

In tracks-list-table.php, can you insert the following at line 128:

    var_dump($sql);

Then open the tracks management page and post the SQL query that is shown?

Perhaps I should add some proper debugging infrastructure to the plugin…

    Regards,
    Martijn.

    Tefal, you wrote:

“When you download a file in Manage trasks continually shows: could not be validated as GPX 1.1”

I’m not sure I understand. Do you mean upload rather than download?

The error message about GPX 1.1 means, that the file you upload is not a proper GPX 1.1 file. Maybe it is a GPX 1.0, which is not supported by Trackserver, or it is not a GPX at all.

Trackserver uses the official GPX 1.1 schema from https://www.topografix.com/gpx.asp to validate the GPX file before it is accepted for upload. I haven’t implemented older versions of the schema because I did’t think it would be necessary, but I really don’t know how common or uncommon GPX 1.0 files are, so if there’s a demand, I can implement it.

    Regards,
    Martijn.
