Unable to get past age gate?

  • We first saw this issue live in production, we have since copied the site to Dev to work this out. We don’t see any errors on the page, but anytime you try to click “YES” the age gate popup just reloads. I’ve contacted WP Engine support and they asked me to reach out to you directly as no one can see any issues or cause.

    Hi @cannaffiliate,

    WP Engine have pretty hardcore caches in place and you’re using PHP mode so it’ll either get stuck or not show depending on what was cached.

    You’ll need to head over to the Age Gate -> Advanced settings and use the “No caching (Javascript)” method – then purge the WP Engine caches.

    Thank you Phil! So this is working now (partially at least). The age gate doesn’t trigger right away and I’m able to see some of the page content before the age gate finally pops up (once I scroll on the page, the age gate triggers).

    We have the same issue and had to remove on 2 sites. We’re with flywheel (part of wpengine) the You’ll need to head over to the Age Gate -> Advanced settings and use the “No caching (Javascript)” method” was on and purged but it seem to periodically cause the same issue meaning people couldn’t get into the site at all. So we have to remove completely. IS there any special settings we can add to the server to stop the issue?
