    I signed up with JustHost and tried to install WordPress from their own site through SimpleScripts. All I seemed to get was a blog editor. So, I tried another website design software but did not like it. I returned to WordPress and tried to install manually following the instructions in WordPress webpages. one asked me to modify the wp-config-sample.php, which I did and renamed wp-config.php (Should I have done that?; the other referred to index.php which I also amended and copied to the root directory (where the main wordpress file is also (wrong?)

    Anyway I cannot access the webpage and keep getting “500 Internal Server Error”

    As I, finally, tried to delete all the files relating to earlier installs, I wonder if I did something I sould not have done…

    Help!!!

    Thanks

    Thanks

    Ok, but where do I pur the main directory in the JustHost directories?
    .

    (/home3/pintotou) (Index.php inside here)
    access-logs
    etc
    mail
    public_ftp
    public_html
    tmp
    wordpress
    www

    You have wordpress folder in wrong place it needs to be in public_html folder Move it in public_html and then try to install wordpress by going to url domainname/wordpress and install script should open.

    Ok I,vwe moved it. But now I guess Ihave to change the Index,php which is like nthis at the mom:

    <?php
    /**
    * Front to the WordPress application. This file doesn’t do anything, but loads
    * wp-blog-header.php which does and tells WordPress to load the theme.
    *
    * @package WordPress
    */

    /**
    * Tells WordPress to load the WordPress theme and output it.
    *
    * @var bool
    */
    define(‘WP_USE_THEMES’, true);

    /** Loads the WordPress Environment and Template */
    require(‘./wordpress/wp-blog-header.php’);

    Now that I got in, I expect that there is more than what I can see. I want a website, not a blog. Are there any templates I can start with?

    Thanks

    You can use any theme to run a site rather than a blog. Try creating a static front page first. Since your original issue is now resolved, please post a new topic for any further questions you might have.
