    Hi,

I’ve not had any luck getting this plugin setup on either of my sites. I have read the comments on the other threads and have tried:

    1. Temporarily deactivating all plugins
    2. Reset Site Kit
    3. Opening the browser in incognito mode
    4. Setting up Site Kit after logging into the same Google account which has access to that property in Search Console
    5. Checking that the WordPress Address, Site Address and GA default URL all match

I don’t believe there is any local security application setup at host level, such as ModSecurity.

No matter what I do I just can’t seem to fetch the GA account. When clicking create account it takes me to the correct login that has access but wants me to create a new account.

    Site health below:

  • @wkdel thanks so much for the topic and the helpful details.

    1) Site Kit should detect the Analytics accounts and properties attached to your Google Account. In that way, you can display the data even if you use another method to collect it.

Could you ensure that your Google account has the permissions level to view the data on the Analytics platform specifically?

    2) Could you confirm how you’re integrating Analytics on the site currently? From the developer tools, it looks like you might be using a Google Tag Manager container with Analytics tag to do it (perhaps using Google Tag Manager for WordPress)?

Site Kit currently cannot detect the Analytics script via Google Tag Manager, but it shouldn’t affect your Google Account having access to Analytics data it has permissions for.

Please let me know what you find!

    Hi Renee,

    1) The Google account I am using to connect is the main admin however Site Kit is unable to detect the Analytics accounts and properties attached to the Google Account.

    2) For one of the sites I am using a Google Tag Manager plugin to insert the tag manager script. From within GTM I have Google Analytics setup and collecting data from the site. On another site I have directly implemented the GA tracking code to the theme. GA is collecting data correctly however due to point 1 I am unable to pull this data in.

    @wkdel thanks for the confirmation!

    1) Could you tell me how your site’s property is listed in Google Analytics (default URL)?

    2) When you go through the setup flow for the Analytics connection with your Google Account, did it ask you several questions and did you accept (or deny) any of them? The screen is called Confirm Your Choices.

If I cancel that screen, I see a screen like this on the Analytics page in Site Kit which sounds like something you’re experiencing too?

If that’s the case, do you see any notifications or errors in the dashboard or in the browser console?

Ultimately, you’ll need to accept those to proceed with using the Analytics module, but let me know more about your experience.

    Hi Renee,

    Thanks for the response.

Within GA the default URL is listed as erdalenver.co.uk with the http dropdown selected.

I can confirm that I am selecting the option to allow access to gather the information from my Google Account. The screenshot you shared above is what I am seeing with the create an account and re-fetch my account buttons even though I am allowing site kit to gain access. I also see the “You need to reauthenticate your Google account. Click here” message within WordPress.

No warnings shown on the Chrome dev tools console. After I agree to allow access it redirects back to the homepage (rather than the backend of WordPress) with the oauth2callback parameters in the URL.

@wkdel Thanks for the update. Can you attempt temporarily deactivating the below plugins before trying to setup the Analytics module once more?
    – InfiniteWP
    – Google Tag Manager for WordPress
    – W3 Total cache
    – Wordfence Security

If that fails can you check with your hosting provider by asking them what software security of firewalls they have in place? (ModSecurity, Web Application Firewalls etc).

@wkdel Did you get a chance to attempt setup once more? Let me know if you encountering anymore issues, and if so please confirm whether there are any restrictions at host level via firewall or security software.

    Hi James,

I tried disabling the plugins and trying however still no luck.

I’ve asked the hosting support team regarding firewalls etc however it is proving difficult getting any specific information from them. They have confirmed they have security in place which may or may not be the issue. I will wait to see what their next response is and report back.

    Thanks

    Hi all,

It seems it was an issue on the hosting side. Server team amended the mod security settings and all is working now.

Thank you very much for your support!!!

@wkdel Thats good to know, thanks for the update. Out of curiosity do you know what was the issue at hosting level, or can you share who you use for your hosting?

    Hi James,

I use Uk2. They haven’t provided any real information unfortunately other than making a change to the mod security settings. I am assuming it is something to do with the call back when you are redirected after going through the process of granting access. This is where it simply broke from the look of things

@wkdel Good to know, thanks again for persevering. And now that you can make use of the plugin as expected be sure to leave a review.
