    Hello,

I’m starting a new post. No-one replied to my last one and NOTHING I have done has worked. Fresh WordPress install and I have checked that www-data has create and delete access to wp-content and I still cannot EDIT themes. I managed to EDIT the default theme after my last fresh install but not any new ones.

I’m guessing this is permissions related. Can someone post what the following should be for all folders from /var/www/html and onwards please?

Owner + permissions, Group + permissions

E.g. Me (Create and Delete), www-data (Create and Delete) or (Access) etc.

    Thank you,

  • do you have a firewall plugin installed?
sometimes you have to whitelist your IP to allow for code changes to a theme.

Also lets start from the beginning, do you have “administrator” role?

Hi, thank you for the reply it’s appreciated.

Please be more specific as I’m not familiar with Ubuntu or WordPress.

Can you provide more information about this firewall plugin? I have a virtual machine set up which has full internet access. Do you mean that I need to make a change on my host’s firewall? If so, what change would you suggest?

    Thank you,
