Unable to edit my own roles

    Hi, I’ve got two sites that I’m managing with this plugin installed.
    In both cases, I can’t edit my own roles, even though I’m an administrator and the administrator role has all the capabilities enabled.

    I can edit other user’s roles fine by clicking ‘Edit’ and scrolling to checkboxes at the bottom, but when I ‘Edit’ my own profile, the checkboxes aren’t there.

    Is this a bug or a purposeful security feature? Surely it should at least be something you can enable for admins if you wanted by checking a capability rule?

  • Darn, I created an account just for the answer!

    Even without the Members plugin installed, you can’t edit your own role in WordPress. That’s a big can of worms to open. For example, what happens if you change your role to a role that doesn’t have the capability to edit user roles? Or, a role that is explicitly denied user editing?

    There’s already some potential for users to lock themselves out of the site. This would open up even more of a possibility of this happening.

    I am open to allowing advanced developers to enable this via a filter with the full knowledge that they could mess something up.
