Unable to edit galleries – thumbnails not visible in editor

    Since upgrading to WP5.6, the editor has become unstable (worked fine with 5.3). We can create a gallery, but as soon as we do and ‘save’, the thumbnails in the editor all disappear. We’ve tried deactivating all other plugins, custom CSS (which worked initially for one update, then reverted), and switching to the default 2021 WP theme. Galleries are working, just can’t see anything to update. Please advise. Thank you!

    We tested your problem and we believe that there was an incompatibility between FTG and a plugin or theme installed by you. Please watch the video below, I tested with the latest version of FTG and WordPress 5.6 and everything works fine.

    After you install and activate the above plugin it has a Troubleshooting mode which allows you to have a vanilla WordPress session, where all plugins are disabled, and a default theme is used, but only for your user – your visitors will still see the normal website.

    Go to its troubleshoot mode and only activate FTG and see if it works correctly with a default WordPress theme (Twenty Nineteen for example) and no other plugins.

    I resolved the issue with this workaround: when you open your gallery to edit it and see no thumbnails, click on ‘add an image’, pull in any image (or if you’re adding an image, the new image), then voila, the thumbnails return. Not correct, but it works. Hope that helps.

    I was able to replicate this on my end and indeed it appears to be a bug.
