• Hello,

I have reinstalled WordPress several times and I have not been able to edit or post anything. The first time I thought it was the custom theme I had uploaded, but I was unable to edit anything even after re-installing WP and attempting to use the default themes that come included.

Please, any suggestions would be useful as Network Solutions has given up and stated that they have exhausted their options and that this is a WordPress issue that I must resolve.

    thanks

  • How’s the database connection? Are you getting any errors?

Next to that; which plugins are you running? Try disabling them one at a time… does the problem persist?

    Last resort:
If you change the line DEFINE(“WP_DEBUG”, false); to DEFINE(“WP_DEBUG”, true); in the wp_config.php file, do you get any errors?

    Normal debug . . .
    Have you tried:
    – deactivating all plugins (yes, all) to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s). Don’t forget the ones in mu-plugins. If you can’t get into your admin dashboard, try resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.
    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

If you have no site access, use ftp or log into your hosted account and use the file manager.

    Thanks for the response.

I have gotten various errors, I will list them all and see if they add up to anything for you.

    – I have been unable to upload ZIP files with themes using the Wpress control panel. When I do attempt this, the browser gives me the “connection to server was reset” after a few minutes.
    – I erased and re-installed wordpress, so any plugins running are the default ones that come with the bare install.

I have not tried changing the DEFINE line in wp_config, but I will as a last resort.

    Thanks for the help.

FYI, all of these problems exist regardless of what theme I am using., including Twenty-Eleven

De-activating all plugins had no effect. Same problems happening.

Okay, change the ‘WP_DEBUG’ setting; and post all the errors (if there are any)

    Here is the error given:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /data/22/2/44/85/2533574/user/2776182/htdocs/wordpress1/wp-config.php on line 95

How did you get 95 lines in your wp-config; that should only be 91 lines. Where did you download the WordPress source? from www.remarpro.com?

straight from my wordpress directory set up by my hosting. Was it because I opened it in a Word instead of a regular text editor like BBEdit?

Yeah, that might be it; Word as the tendency to add useless code to a document…
But it shouldn’t have anything to do with your initial problem…

I think that your hostingprovider can help you further; there’s something not going right here. It’s either read/write permissions on the database or on folders / files on your server…

Ok, sorry about that, I re-edited wp-config.php with BBEdit (should have known better) and overwrote previous file.

    No error messages this time.

Ok, thanks for the help. I appreciate it. I’ll ask Network Solutions again for assistance.

I have reinstalled WordPress several times and I have not been able to edit or post anything.

What error message if any? Can you create a Page?
