Unable to do manual upgrade

Sorry that you ran into issues here!

Off hand, I’m not sure what the error might be–a few people are reporting issues if they have PHP versions that are earlier than 5.6, which is the latest supported version for both BD and WordPress.

Do you know what version you have right now? You can check under Directory Admin->Debug if you have 4.x installed. You should have PHP 5.6 or higher installed. That should take care of it.

You can also downgrade following the steps here, but if you PHP is earlier than 5.6, I would strongly recommend upgrading PHP regardless: https://businessdirectoryplugin.com/support-forum/faq/how-to-downgrade-business-directory-to-an-older-version/

Try that and let me know if you run into more issues.

My PHP version is 7.1. I’ll try downgrading.

PHP 7.1 is supported–that shouldn’t be the issue here. Sounds like there’s something else we didn’t catch in testing specific to PHP 7.1.

I don’t know what happened but I reinstalled the plugin and did the upgrade and now it works! So relieved! Your plugin is the best directory out there. In the course of it not working, I tried so many others and they’re just not as good. Keep up the great work!
