    Hi,

I have already updated to the latest version of the plugin and tried to dismiss this update message many times but it just won’t go away. Clicking on the Dismiss button does nothing and the message is still stuck there. Can you help please? It’s really annoying.

    Thanks.

  • Hi @jwjo

From what I understand, you’re having an issue with an update message that persists even after updating the plugin.

This is a known issue that our team is actively working on. The good news is that the bug is set to be fixed in WooCommerce version 8.0.0, which will be released on August 8, 2023.

In the meantime, I assure you that it’s safe to ignore this notice. However, if you’d like to remove it, there is a workaround you can try by editing your database.

To do this, you’ll need a plugin like WP phpMyAdmin. Once installed, navigate to the wp_wc_admin_notes database table and search for the update message. Once found, you can change the status from ‘unactioned‘ to ‘actioned‘. This should effectively remove the persistent message.

?? Before you proceed with these steps, I strongly recommend that you create a backup of your full site and database. This is a crucial step to ensure that in case anything goes wrong, you can easily restore your site to its previous, functioning state.

I hope this helps. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions or need additional assistance. We’re here to help.

    @bisratlearn

I tried that, made no difference, still have the notice. (Dismiss option DOES NOT WORK)

I have been having this issue with another site for a few months now.

Might be nice to finally have a fix

@bisratlearn thanks for your advice, this workaround worked for me.

@kiefels I know it may sound like a stupid question – but did you hit “save” (or similar) after you changed the messages’ status in the database directly?

    Same problem here!

    Also waiting for a solution…

    Hi @jwjo, @kiefels, @raplat, and @andreaslorenzi

I really appreciate your patience and understanding as we’ve tackled the issue with the persistent update message. I understand it’s been a bit troublesome and I’m truly sorry for any inconvenience it’s caused.

I’m excited to let you know that we’ve included the bug fix in the newly released WooCommerce version 8.0.0. I’d suggest you upgrade to this latest version.

Here’s a quick guide on how to upgrade to WooCommerce version 8.0.0:

    1. Go to your WordPress Dashboard.
    2. Navigate to ‘Plugins‘.
    3. Locate ‘WooCommerce‘ in your list of installed plugins.
    4. Click on ‘Update Now‘ next to ‘WooCommerce‘.

Once you’ve updated, the persistent update message should no longer appear. If it does, please let us know.

?? A quick reminder: Before you make any changes, we strongly recommend that you create a backup of your full site and database. This is a crucial step to ensure that in case anything goes wrong, you can easily restore your site to its previous, functioning state.

I hope this helps! Feel free to get in touch if you have any more questions or need further help.

    Dear @bisratlearn
many thanks for your kind help – I just got rid of the message by making your above mentioned edit to my database!

    Cheers – Andreas

    Hi @andreaslorenzi

I just got rid of the message by making your above mentioned edit to my database!

I’m thrilled to hear that you successfully got rid of the message by editing your database as I suggested!

While this workaround solved the issue for now, I strongly urge you to upgrade your WooCommerce to version 8.0.0. Not only does this version permanently fix the persistent update message, but it also equips you with the latest features and security updates.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to upgrading to WooCommerce version 8.0.0:

    1. Go to your WordPress Dashboard.
    2. Navigate to ‘Plugins‘.
    3. Locate ‘WooCommerce‘ in your list of installed plugins.
    4. Click on ‘Update Now‘ next to ‘WooCommerce‘.

?? Just a friendly reminder: It’s highly recommended that you backup your entire site and database before making any changes. This crucial step ensures that if anything goes wrong, you’ll be able to restore your site to its previous, functioning state with ease.

Should you run into any issues during the update or have any other questions, please feel free to reach out. We’re always here to help!

    Hi @bisratlearn ,

Thanks for your reply. I have updated to the latest version and while I can dismiss one of those messages permanently, this other one still refuses to go away. Clicking Dismiss brings me to the main dashboard page but once I go back to the Orders page, the message comes back again.

I did not do the database fix that you recommended – am I supposed to do that as well?

    Please help. Thanks!

    Hi there @jwjo ??

Thank you for updating us on that.

I did not do the database fix that you recommended – am I supposed to do that as well?

Could you try with updating to WooCommerce version 8.0.1, that was just released, and see how it goes, please?

While doing so, kindly make sure the database version is also updated to the same version: 8.0.1

To do so, there is a dedicated button found at WooCommerce > Status > Tools.
