We are unable to disable Async Javascript’s functionality!!

We tried disabling the plugin & deleting, but scripts are still loading asynchronously and breaking site functionality.

As a workaround I reenabled the plugin, and manually excluded all theme/plugin scripts. Now most things are working, but we want to be rid of Async Javascript for now (the speed benefits were barely noticeable).

If scripts remain asynced even after deleting the plugin, then I suspect you have a page cache you might need to purge?

    DOH! Thank you! All fixed.

Super weird: Cleared the caches this morning- everything was working, and now the async bits are back.

    Any ideas??

Ok so got jQuery loaded again, so site is functional but we still have async and defer everywhere…

Completely disabled anything with caching and we still have this issue. Would rather not restore from a backup but that might be the only solution here.

hey @secretagentmedia; could it be Sucuri’s cache messing things up? I mean; if async js has been deleted, then it simply cannot do that any more so it must be either a stale cache or something else doing that?
