Good afternoon! I’m unable to delete the linked-to photo. I searched for it in Library > Media, found it by searching for words in the URL, and deleted it. But the linked-to pic still appears in Google searches. How can I remove it completely from my site? Thanks!

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • If you deleted the image then it’s not on your website but something is acting as a CDN external to your website. I’m pretty sure that would be the Photon service from Jetpack so you might want to kill the Photon service or speak with the people at Jetpack support about how to remove that one image.

Google won’t update until it rechecks your site on its schedule…

There may be webmaster tools at Google to expedite some of this but expect Google to keep the image link as long as they know it is working.

For the most part, I wouldn’t worry about the image unless it was still on your site and causing some issue. Who knows what synergistic visits you might be getting from an image from some users who know their way around a web browser.

Of course, in the case of the image as specified above, it refers back to some other website… not yours.
