Unable to create a WordPress export to XML file

BackWPUp has started to report the following error in its email logs to me:
[18-Dec-2016 03:00:25] 1. Trying to make a list of folders to back up … [18-Dec-2016 03:00:25] Added "wp-config.php" to backup file list [18-Dec-2016 03:00:25] 51 folders to backup. [18-Dec-2016 03:00:25] 1. Trying to create a WordPress export to XML file … [18-Dec-2016 03:00:28] ERROR: Call to undefined function wxr_cdata() [18-Dec-2016 03:00:29] 2. Trying to create a WordPress export to XML file … [18-Dec-2016 03:00:31] ERROR: Call to undefined function wxr_cdata() [18-Dec-2016 03:00:33] 3. Trying to create a WordPress export to XML file … [18-Dec-2016 03:00:35] ERROR: Call to undefined function wxr_cdata() [18-Dec-2016 03:00:36] ERROR: Step aborted: too many attempts!This has only started to happen over the past month or so; everything was fine before that. I’m not sure whether it’s a serious error or whether I can cheerfully ignore it. Any advice much appreciated!
