I just installed WordPress to create a brand new blog. It’s not yet published due to several issues, including this one and problems using and installing a new theme. There are several things going on:

    1) When I try to write a new post, the tab where you start writing will not allow me to move to it to write, so I cannot even create a draft post.

    2) the add media button “pushes” like it should when I click it, but does not do anything else, so I cannot add any pictures.

    Any help is much appreciated!

  • Hi there,

As a test, does it work if you temporarily deactivate all plugins and switch to the default Twenty Fifteen theme?

No. It’s still on the default theme because it gives me an error message each time I try to change it. But in addition, when I view the current theme, it says “false” in most of the description areas and displays this error at the top: “ERROR: The theme directory “twentyfifteen” does not exist.”

And I don’t have any plugins yet I don’t think… I literally JUST started this page yesterday.

It sounds like WordPress isn’t fully installed or something. Can you try to reinstall it, or ask your web host to install it for you to see if that helps?

Okay, that sounds about right, basic features just aren’t working. I’ll try that and see.

Yes!!! Uninstalling and reinstalling it did the trick! Thank you so much!

Glad to hear it! Thanks for the update.
