    Hi,

I am unable to create a custom homepage SEO title (it is not a static page, just the default WordPress homepage).

I enter a custom title by typing text directly into the appropriate title field, hit save, and once the Yoast plugin page refreshes, it shows the correct custom title in the title field.

Then I go to refresh my website homepage and it displays my website name followed by a separator instead. I have tried to do this in both Firefox and Chrome to no avail.

Interestingly, the custom meta description that I enter for the homepage works.

    Please advise, thank you.

We checked on the page and see that title is being output as:

    <title>Credit Card Balance Transfer Offers.com |</title>

If you clear your cache (server, plugin/theme, or CDN such as Cloudflare) does this resolve the issue? If you are not sure how to clear your server cache you should speak with your host provider.

If after clearing the cache the page still does not update, we would next recommend performing a conflict check to see whether another plugin or theme is interfering with the Yoast SEO plugin. The fastest way to do this is to?deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme?like?Twenty Nineteen.?Test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the?Health Check & Troubleshooting?plugin. This plugin allows you to run a conflict check?without affecting normal visitors to your site.As we can imagine that you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process:?How to check for plugin conflicts.

Thanks for the response/info. I switched themes and it works. Nothing to do with any plugins because I deactivated/reactivated all of them.

My particular theme has an option to use a custom home title, which I hadn’t been using prior to Yoast, but I checked that option just now, inputted my custom title, and it works alongside Yoast.

Ultimately, it’s an override of Yoast’s title settings for the homepage, and possibly also the source of the conflict. But seems to work fine with that setting now applied.

All other posts/pages are outputting titles properly.

    Appreciate your help.
