I have tried all the solutions I’ve found regarding not being able to update plugins from Localhost except one about openSSL (because my MacOS is up to date and not sure about messing with SSL when they update it).

So I’ve added “direct” to the wp_config
I’ve checked permissions to the folders my local
    apache has the ssl_mod loaded
    Php includes curl.so

I’m using a MAMP version that’s about 2 weeks old.
I’ve got the latest version of WordPress installed (4.9.4)
I tried shutting down my firewall temporarily
I added Debug to my config which is how I got the nice error:

Warning: An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with www.remarpro.com or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums. (WordPress could not establish a secure connection to www.remarpro.com. Please contact your server administrator.) in /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/WordPress-Woolz/wp-admin/includes/plugin-install.php on line 168

And line 168 does have to do with SSL but I am unsure how to safely update it on my Mac.

It seems like there would be some way to check that you have a secure connection, although I’ve seen solutions here be as strange as make sure your date/time is set to automatically update– so….

I’ve used ftp in the past to update my localhost but Apple removed that capability with their latest OS version. I can install it myself and turn it on and off if I have to, but I was really hoping to get the “direct” way of updating plugins, themes, etc working.
