I have 61 sites that are working fine so I don’t think it’s a plugin but I have tried to deactivate them all. I have tried your wordfence assistant to remove all blocks and reinstalled your plugin but every time I try to connect is says Unable to resolve domain redirects. I have the information in the diagnostic that says

wp_remote_post() test back to this server failed! Response was: 200 OK
This additional info may help you diagnose the issue. The response headers we received were:

    HTTP/1.1 200 OK
    Server: *****
    Date: Tue, 03 Aug 2021 17:38:17 GMT
    Content-Type: text/html
    Transfer-Encoding: chunked
    Connection: close
    Vary: Accept-Encoding
    Expires: Thu, 01 Jan 1970 00:00:01 GMT
    Cache-Control: no-cache

    X-Proxy-Cache-Info: DT:1
    Content-Encoding: br
    Host-Header: ***************************

Hi @bclair85, thanks for getting in touch.

It seems on the face of it like the connection between our servers back to your site is failing, which could be due to a proxy server or a firewall/CDN between your site and us that needs to be configured.

Looking at Wordfence > Dashboard > Global Options > General Wordfence Options > How does Wordfence get IPs has an “+ Edit trusted proxies” option if you’re already aware of any proxy details and could be worth a try. If you do change something here, make sure to click SAVE.

You may find the “How does Wordfence get IPs” section helpful to accompany this: https://www.wordfence.com/help/dashboard/options/#general-wordfence-options

If that’s not looking like the solution, please send a diagnostic report to wftest @ wordfence . com? You can find the link to do so at the top of the Wordfence Tools > Diagnostics page. Then click on “Send Report by Email”. Please add your forum username where indicated and respond here after you have sent it.

Note: For the fastest response time, please make sure and add any information or questions directly to this topic and not the email address above unless asked.

    Thanks,

    Peter.

Thank you for the input I check and other sites are working fine with the IP so I sent the diagnostics to you through the tools page. Sorry, I sent twice the button was still blue and I thought it did not send.

I have not heard back from Wordfence but I was able to connect to Wordfence Central. In the diagnostics, it is still showing a connection error not sure if that will go away or what changed to make the fix. Because I have 12 premium accounts and use several free accounts it would be great to know what happen in order to fix this issue in the future.

    Hi @bclair85,

If the site involved in this particular case is one of the 12 premiums, you can by all means use your premium support to get faster response via the Help menu item in the plugin, Help link on the plugin’s Dashboard page, on our documentation homepage or via the HELP link in the footer of all wordfence.com pages.

I have taken a look at your diagnostic and am also seeing the wp_remote_post() test back to this server failed! but a 200 OK response being returned seems like your theme auto-redirects 404s to the homepage. This can also cause other issues such as non-existent pages being logged by Google bots as valid pages for your site search results – but isn’t the reason why we’re getting the error message in the first place. It could be worth disabling all plugins except for Wordfence and defaulting your theme to Twenty Twenty-One and seeing if the issue persists.

Sometimes this issues with our servers connecting back to your site can be because of a load balancer or firewall. Is this site hosted on the same environment as the working sites you mention?

You could also check that Wordfence > Firewall > Blocking doesn’t contain any Wordfence IPs. You can check them on the following page: https://www.wordfence.com/help/advanced/

If this isn’t the case, there might be an issue with how TLS is being resolved on your host’s end. The host can run this command in the CLI (Command Line Interface) a few times:

    curl -v https://noc1.wordfence.com/

It should normally end with a message saying “Your site did not send an API key when contacting the Wordfence servers.” if it’s successful. Your host could also ensure that our IPs from the page above aren’t blocked or stopped in another way from accessing your site.

    Thanks,

    Peter.
