    Hello,
I’m trying to define my mailserver combinations at my postie plugin,
using pop/pop-ssl-/imap/imap-ssl with their matching ports and mailserver
    but nothing works.
    I all the time get:
    “Mail Connection Time Out
Common Reasons: Server Down, Network Issue, Port/Protocol MisMatch”
I checked with my webhost that the 993 and 995 ports are opened and that imap-phph is running.
I even tried using my site mail which is installled on my webhost but that didn’t work either.
At some point, when used my gmail acount, I got a mail saying that an unsecure application is trying to gain access to my gmail acout but I fix that by authorizing this connection…
I’m using a multisite installation and I understand that postie works well with it.
I can’t think of of anything else (I made sure a couple of times that my mail address and password are correct)

Many thanks in advance to anyone who could help…

Thank you very much for your reply.
I went over all the options, did all the required setting but it doesn’t work.
The only thing I didn’t know is connect to the webhost with ssh.
The webost manager claims that his webhost is fully compatible with gmail and ssh connection is only enable in vps and not on a shared accounts server….

The error messages mean that either
    a) you typed something wrong
    b) the services are not available at the configuration you provided
    c) the host is blocking the connection

As a easy check you could create a test WordPress install with another host and see if you can get Postie running.

As Postie works fine for thousands of installs, this has to do with something specific to your installation.

    I guess I’ll try with a different host…
Thanks again for your time and help!

    Hello again,
I’m continue to struggle the installation…
for some reason one instalation of postie works.
Having the same installation on my other site (and I went over the fields over and over again) it doesnt work.
I’m using a different gmail acount for each site/postie and I ofcourse made sure that less secure apps can access that the autonthication 2 stages is turned off, pop accounts is ebable of course…
I don’t know what to do different.
1 postie works and it has the exact setup except the mail and password…
The error in the the debuging is:

    Mail Connection Time Out
Common Reasons: Server Down, Network Issue, Port/Protocol MisMatch
    Array
    (
[0] => Can not authenticate to POP3 server: [AUTH] Web login required: https://support.google.com/mail/answer/78754
    )

I guess that if postie works for one site, it means that it my hosts enables the port…
I also think that it doesn’t have to do with my Postie setup because on every site that I installed the plugin and tried to fetch mails, gmail immediately recognized that a less secure app tried to enter the account.
I ofcourse enable the access for less secure apps right after, but that didn’t help…..

Do you have any idea/direction what should I do.

    ok, finally I found out.
I had to change to a stronger password.
It took me time to realize it since all
the accounts were with the same password
    and google allowed one…
    maybe it will help others:)
