I am attempting to setup Postie, using POP3-SSL & my gmail account.

    Protocol: POP3-SSL
    Use Transport Layer Security: no
    Server: pop.gmail.com
    Port: 995
    Userid: your full email address
    Password: your password

When I run test config, the config appears to be OK, but under ‘connect to mail host’ I get this:

imap_open failed: Can’t connect to gmail-pop.l.google.com,995: Connection timed out
Unable to connect. The server said:

    Any ideas welcome!

Thanks Wayne, I’ve tried all that, including access to less secure apps both on and off and the error is still the same:

    Connecting to pop.gmail.com:995 (pop3-ssl)
    pop3: using Google INBOX
    pop3: connection string – {pop.gmail.com:995/service=pop3/ssl/notls/novalidate-cert}INBOX
    pop3: disabling GSSAPI
imap_open failed: Can’t connect to gmail-pop.l.google.com,995: Connection timed out
    Mail Connection Time Out
Common Reasons: Server Down, Network Issue, Port/Protocol MisMatch

Any other suggestions, or am I now at the point of moving away from gmail for Postie to work?

    TIA

Did you ensure that your Gmail account allows POP3 access? (Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab in your Gmail settings)

It may be that your hosting is blocking port 995. If you have shell access take a look at https://postieplugin.com/faq/postie-wont-connect-mailserver/

    Hi Wayne,

Thanks again for your reply. Yes, I tried everything on those posts. The host say that php-imap is enabled.

I have since changed the settings from gmail, but it is something of a pain.

So are you switching to another email server?

Yes, and it works a charm! Thank you for your work on the plugin, and your support.
