    Hi,

I seem unable to change the template mode from Reader and I can’t find out the reason.
Would you please able to help me?

When I change to Transitional or Standard and save, the plugin puts me back with the Reader template.
I unsuccessfully tried to deactivate, delete, reinstall the plugin, change directly in the configuration wizard or in the settings tab.

My theme seems to be compatible with AMP. At some point, the plugin even recommends me to use standard. I have a functionality to further customize AMP in the theme. Activating or not this functionality from the theme doesn’t allow me to change the template mode.

When I manually scan the site in the plugin, the scan fails. I supposed bot issues were linked.
I use Litespeed cache. I added a snippet:
    add_filter( 'litespeed_comment', '__return_false' );

I found this in another support ticket but it doesn’t solve the scan nor the template mode issues.

As a sidenote, I also have the PWA plugin installed. I’m hopeful I could get a AMP post on the first interaction/visit and then use PWA when the user goes on other posts. But I don’t think I’ve joined AMP and PWA correctly with the serviceworker (and manifest file isn’t fetched with AMP) so maybe that’s a root for the issues I’m seeing?

I have only activated AMP on posts.

Thank you very much for you help.

  • Hi @clem10nt,

Thanks for contacting us, I have checked your UUID, and I saw you are using the Jannah Theme, which answers a few of your questions.

When I change to Transitional or Standard and save, the plugin puts me back with the Reader template. I unsuccessfully tried to deactivate, delete, reinstall the plugin, change directly in the configuration wizard or in the settings tab.

Jannah theme makes the AMP-compatibility forcing the reader mode. The reason that you can switch to other because the Jannah theme only supports reader mode. It has some options to customize AMP at the theme settings:

    https://jannah.helpscoutdocs.com/article/83-amp-accelerated-mobile-pages

My theme seems to be compatible with AMP. At some point, the plugin even recommends me to use standard. I have a functionality to further customize AMP in the theme. Activating or not this functionality from the theme doesn’t allow me to change the template mode.

The site scan will read seven main templates and check if there is any AMP incompatibility. At the AMP plugins layer, it is not expecting a theme forcing the reader mode, it reads the page. It doesn’t find an error and consider the standard mode compatible, but the site scan does not really analyze the standard mode (it could be a suggestion for improvement).

I found this in another support ticket but it doesn’t solve the scan nor the template mode issues.

This fix was for LiteSpeed + theme that doesn’t force the reader mode. In this case, Jannah theme redirects create a false positive report, I would recommend talking with the Jannah theme support because it is a premium theme, and they provide a third-party solution over the AMP plugin that we can’t cover in our side.

I have checked the Reader mode theme created by Jannah theme is missing the amp-service worker component, it can be another item to report to the Jannah support theme.

I hope that it would be helpful for you, if you have more questions please let us know.
