Unable to categorize separate shop pages

Hi @eszukiewicz13!

I checked your site, and it seems the categories aren’t displaying due to the theme you are using.

To be sure of this, kindly change your theme back to Storefront, and then go to Appearance > Customize > WooCommerce > Product Catalog, and on the Shop page display field, select the ‘Show categories’ option and check if it displays by category correctly.

If it displays the way you want it, kindly provide us your System Status to guide you in the right direction. You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select ‘Get system report’ and then ‘Copy for support’. Once you do this, paste in here your response.

Thank you for the response Juan, I appreciate the quick response. I will let my boss know of the issue, try changing the theme to storefront to test the display, and then go from there.

Hi Juan,

I changed the theme back to Storefront and selected the “Show Category” option, however the shop page still just shows all of the products available in no specific order, same as before.

Do I need to add these categories onto the site menu through the appearance tab on WordPress for them to display separately? I don’t know if that’s a possibility since the shop page is not capable of being separated into various pages. Perhaps I’m still missing something.

To update securely, please check this tutorial.

Then you can perform a conflict test, please follow these steps:?

• Temporarily switch your theme to Storefront
• Disable all plugins except for WooCommerce
• Repeat the action that is causing the problem

I updated WordPress to the most current version and deactivated all Plugins except for Woocommerce. I also changed the theme from Twenty Seventeen to Storefront.

This time when I tried viewing the product catalog in the customize section for Woocommerce, I was able to view the products in my shop page based on their assigned categories. So that fixed the problem.

Is there a way to keep the categories showing like they currently are while having the Twenty Seveteen theme and all of my necessary plugins activated? The site is somewhat broken without the previously mentioned things being active.

Great question. If this was my site, I would suggest enabling the other plugins, one by one, checking the customizer as you go. That way you can track down the ones which are making undesirable changes.

Once you find out which ones are causing this, you can see if there is a way to prevent it with the plugin’s settings or perhaps, stop using it.
