I’m rebuilding my website using a slightly modified custom theme. The installation of custom sidebar and set up of the sidebars is working perfectly fine but when I try to apply it to a page it does not show up. I don’t think I am missing anything in the theme that would block this from working.

  • Hi @thendb,

Thanks for posting on the forum.

Is it working fine for you using default WordPress theme like Twenty Thirteen?

Are you configuring the custom sidebar to display on the page using sidebar location settings or from the Sidebar metabox displayed on the edit page screen?

Could you please share me the page link where the custom sidebar is not displaying so that i can troubleshoot it?

    Kind Regards,

When I switch to Twenty Thirteen, the abilities are different (of course) but the same basic thing happens. I activate the Custom Sidebars plugin, make some custom sidebars, allow the main widget area sidebar to be replaced and replace it in the page. When update and open the page, it’s still the same sidebar as the general ‘main sidebar’.

I am running everything offline using bitnami right now so am not sure how I can give you a link to see the page….I can try to upload it to run on one of my sites unless there is another option you can think of?

    Thank you

I think I just found a small piece of what’s happening – I was trying to set up my commerce pages first and see now that all my main pages work perfectly fine with the custom sidebars plugin. But any standard woocommerce page (cart/checkout/etc) does not accept the custom sidebar and instead will only show the main sidebar.

Is this now a woocommerce issue?

    Thank you,

    Hi @thendb,

    Thank you for your reply.

I have tested it on my test site using latest version of Custom Sidebars & WooCommerce plugins and the custom sidebar worked fine without any issue on woocommerce pages (cart/checkout/etc) as displayed in the following screenshots.

Make sure you are using latest versions of all plugins and share me the screenshots of it as i have shared you so that i can troubleshoot it.

For screenshots, you can simply provide a link to an image through Google Drive, Dropbox, screencast.com, https://imgur.com/ or other image service. ??

Also if you can please share URL of the page.

This can also be due to plugin/theme conflict.

To find find out plugin/theme conflict you can just try on your development site using default WordPress theme like Twenty Thirteen and deactivating all other plugins as displayed in the following flowchart to know which theme/plugin is conflicting if any.
