• I’m just starting to build a new WP site and am still experimenting with Themes. Today, when I went to add a New Theme, after several seconds of a spinning “seach” graphic, an error message came up:

“An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with www.remarpro.com or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums.”

0 Themes are displayed after clicking “Add New”. The same problem occurs if I choose Featured, Popular, Latest, etc. or enter a keyword in the search box. I only get the above error.

Note that I WAS able to look at & select Themes a couple of days ago, and everything worked normally.

This error typically means WordPress trying to connect to the update server in the background, but couldn’t.

This could be due to a simple internet connection issue, or may be the server is offline.

Therefore, try contacting your internet/hosting provider.

I’m hoping someone can come up with another suggestion. I can’t imagine explaining to Arvixe customer support that everything seems to work fine with my internet connection except that one isolated feature of a WordPress installation is returning an error.

“The server is offline” — which server would that be? The one hosting my website? Or something related to www.remarpro.com, since I’m attempting to fetch Theme information from that server? Since everything else in my Admin Dashboard for my site seems to be working fine, I’m unclear on what to describe to my provider.

This is commonly as simple DNS issue at the hosts’ end, so try asking them to look into to it for you.

Sigh. That went about the way I expected it to. I asked that they check the DNS, and they said everything was “fine.” Yet, the issue persists, but only on this one website. Using my same computer/browser, I can log into other WP sites I’ve built and I have no problems at all.

Is there a really specific question I should be asking Arvixe rather than, “Please check the DNS settings?” I know nothing about DNS, so I don’t even really know what it is I’m asking about.

Is there anything I can research on my own to try to resolve this? I’ve got a workaround (download the zipped theme and then install manually), but I keep thinking this problem may have other repercussions down the road.

Thanks for your patience with my lack of knowledge.
