• I don’t know if this is Mac specific but I have tried two Macs and three browsers and it is always the same. When I click to add an image to a post, rather than pop over, the panel to upload or add an image pops down beneath all other content on the post page, and half or more of the popover is off to the left of the window and cannot be viewed. This makes it impossible for me to add a featured image or any image at all without using manual HTML which is not my strong suit, hence why I make sites with wordpress!

    Here is a screenshot: https://postimage.org/image/1s164u0bo/

My site was recently destroyed by my hosting company during a move, so the installation should be new, only the content remained. Please help me!

  • Out of curiosity, does it work when you use a PC?

On your Mac, does it act like this in every browser? I.E., Chrome and Firefox and Safari?

In addition to fittingSites’s suggestions, try changing the site’s theme to one of the defaults (twenty-ten, twenty-eleven, etc.) Yes, themes can also affect the admin side.

I don’t own a PC but I am about to try Parallels. Chrome, Firefox and Safari all show the same thing. No IE on Mac anymore. I also tried using the twenty eleven theme, and it did the same thing.

I’d recommend deactivating all your plugins next, to see if one of them is causing the issue. If that clears it up, then you can reactivate them one at a time until you find the offending plugin. Tedious, but the best approach.

If deactivating plugins doesn’t clear it up, then next I’d find a friend with a PC who will let you log in to WP on their machine, to see if you have the same problem on the PC side. Should just take a few minutes for you to test if it’s a Mac-only issue.

Ugh…My parallels is not working so I cant test it on PC side. Still, two macs and three browsers I’m pretty sure this is a coding error on WP’s side, nothing the Mac will be able to fix.

Also I don’t have any plugins enabled.

Still, it would be good to find a PC you can check on quickly, just to eliminate that variable.

Otherwise, only easy thing I can think of is to test on a clean install of WordPress, which would eliminate the possibility of problems inside of core. ::scratches head::

Shoot…it’s working correctly on a clean install of WP. What is the best way for me to fix this?

Have you done anything that you can think of (recently) to modify the core files? Other possibility is that you made a move recently, and one of the files got corrupted in that process.

Either way, the simplest fix I can think of is to download a fresh copy of WordPress, and upload it to your server via FTP, overwriting the core files that exist on your server, and are presumably corrupted. Be sure that you DO NOT overwrite the following:

    • wp-config.php
    • wp-content

Also, do yourself a favor, and create a full backup of your site’s files and database from within your hosting control panel before you touch anything. If something goes amiss, you’ll be glad you did!
