unable to add blog widgets

UPDATE: Before yesterday’s theme update for this theme, it said Add widgets in the blog & post sidebar areas, but would not display the ones I added. There was a sidebar for Blog (or posts) page in the back-end widgets screen. After the update, there’s a blank space/rectangle on the blog and posts pages but it no longer says add widgets. It is noticeable though, especially when using a colored background, and it still won’t let me add widgets to that space. Please advise.

UPDATE 2: Alright, now they will show up if they are in the regular Sidebar sidebar versus the Page sidebar. However, I had already tried that before the first update, above. Also, that sidebar wasn’t there before the theme update yesterday.

So, for anyone else having this problem that even Jetpack’s widget visibility didn’t fix, then just try adding them to the regular sidebar that is available on the latest version of the WPFreeware theme. Note that it may take you a few tries to get it to work.
