    Hello,

I’ve recently restructured my wordpress site. I switched from using subdomain to sub-directory.

I decided that I would start everything fresh. My new site is new without any plugin, and the first plugin I would like to use is Jetpack. I installed, and activated it. But I couldn’t set up Jetpack.

The error message say “Requests to the server have been blocked by an extension.”

I have another WordPress installation this time, and the same error.

I hope I can get some advice. Thanks.

Hi, could you either reach out to support directly at https://jetpack.com/contact-support/ , or send a link to the site so we can test the connection?

    Thanks in advance.

    Thank you for your reply.

I can’t find a contact form to directly contact Jetpack. I will try to find it later.

Can you please do a quick check on this link https://banghoi.com/news (which was moved from news.banghoi.com) ?

Or a completely new section with almost no post https://banghoi.com/review?

    Thanks.

    On https://banghoi.com/news/ I see a XML-RPC error in the debugger at https://jetpack.com/support/debug/?url=https://banghoi.com/news/

Please check with your hosting provider and make sure they’re not blocking access to XML-RPC, as Jetpack needs that to communicate with your site.

    https://jetpack.com/support/getting-started-with-jetpack/fixing-jetpack-connection-issues/#check-xmlrpc-php

For the other site I see a different error, but if it’s on the same hosting setup it’s likely the same cause.

Let us know if your host says everything is working on their end.

You need to click the link to log in at https://jetpack.com/contact-support/?rel=support before the contact form will become visible.

    Thanks for your response.

I don’t think there’s something that blocks xmlrpc.php file, because when I checked the full url, say, https://banghoi.com/news/xmlrpc.php , the message sounds that XML-RPC is enabled.

“XML-RPC server accepts POST requests only.”

I also passed the second test at https://xmlrpc.eritreo.it

It must be something else, and I don’t know.

    Thank you.

The file can exist and still be blocking connections. Can you have your host try this test at a command prompt?

    curl -I https://banghoi.com/news/xmlrpc.php

    I see a 405 error.

The hosting provider confirmed that they do not block xmlrpc.php files.
I also pinged their Server IP, and it’s okay. So, basically, maybe there is nothing wrong with us all.

Possibly the Jetpack debugging tool sent false notice. Or maybe Jetpack server blocked my IP, or else.

I will try some other ways.

    Hello,

I have some good news. After using a strange web browser called Tor, I can now activate the Jetpack.

We don’t block IPs from making Jetpack connections.

And it’s not just the debugger. Running the curl command for your site from the command line also gives an error, so something is definitely blocking access to that file at some level.

A 405 error means your server received the request from Jetpack to access that file and recognised it, but then rejected the request.

Are you using any security plugins on your site? Those can also block access to the XML-RPC file, so check if disabling that allows you to reconnect. I know at least one popular security plugin has an option to specifically allow Jetpack to connect to XML-RPC, so perhaps also see if you can find something like that.

Only saw this after posting my reply.

I have no idea why using a TOR browser would work in this case, as that wouldn’t make any difference to how network requests between our servers and your host’s are executed, but I’m glad it’s working now.

I can confirm on our end the connection also looks good now.
