• I administer my cousin’s site https://www.shoutyourname.com. The site is hosted on GoDaddy, but we set up the software here on wordpress. It ran fine for about a year.

I moved geographically within the state and for the past 2 months or so I have been unable to access the site.
At first I was getting error messages on both Internet Explorer and Firefox about the site not being found, later Yahoo error messages said that Yahoo had determined the site was dangerous (?) and would not access it.

I’ve been round and round with Yahoo and Microsoft. Now when I sign in to WordPress and go to my site manager, Firefox tells me ‘this site cannot be accessed’ with a warning sign. ??????? If I try Internet Explorer, it redirects to a ‘searchus.com’ page with the https://www.shoutyourname.com prefilled in the search box. The search box brings up several options (Amazon, the SYN site, etc) and if I click on the Shout Your Name website, it redirects to https://www.ccs.infospace.com

WHY can’t I access this site I am SUPPOSED to be maintaining.

A user in the other forum – yes I posted in the wrong forum – said they could log in fine and suggested I might have a virus/malware issue. I have two laptops, neither of which can access the site.

I ran the program they suggested and found a couple viruses that had gone past the malware protection I was running (WILFORDdotBIZ and MYWORDTOOLsomething – filename truncated).

I re-booted and STILL could not log in from either Firefox or Internet Explorer. I got several error messages (same as before): Firewall error 314, your computer is configured correctly but the site appears to be unavailable, this website is unavailable, and in the site manager screen on WordPress a hazard sign next to Shout Your Name and when you click on it, it says “this site cannot be accessed” and the next line says “disconnect site”.

I don’t have any problem viewing https://www.shoutyourname.com/ either.

Do you only see the error when logging in?

Does the error appear to be coming from a particular antivirus or internet security program?

I can’t GET to the login. Every time I try to get to the site: Yahoo says it “cannot access the site”, Firefox says it “timed out while waiting for the server”, WordPress “view my blogs” has a big red triangular warning sign and won’t allow me to click on the site to switch to it.

Apparently everyone in the free freaking world can access the site EXCEPT me and I’M supposed to be administering the site. I haven’t been able to access the site all this year.

GoDaddy says – we can access it, it’s not our problem.
Bing/Yahoo says – we can access it, it’s not our problem.

When running the network troubleshooter it says:
    1) Firewall/connection error 314
    2) Reset DNS something – then it says it did it and when I retry I get the same error message
    3) Your computer appears to be configured correctly – the server is unavailable

I have no problem getting to https://www.shoutyourname.com/wp-login.php either. Is that were you’re trying to go?

(P.S. Once you get in, you should really upgrade. WordPress 3.5.2 has its fair share of publicly know security vulnerabilities, and we’re on 4.2.2 now.)

Does the issue happen after hitting the login button? If so, what does the URL in your address bar say?

    AGAIN –

I can’t GET to the login.
When I type the address in the address bar Firefox times out and Yahoo says it “cannot access the site”.

When I enter the name in the Yahoo search bar and then click on the site: Firefox and Yahoo both bring up the site in the search results. But when I click on the site Firefox says it timed out waiting for the server and Yahoo says it “cannot access the site”. (It USED to say the site was “forbidden”)

When I go to my other WordPress sites and bring up the “view my sites” screen there’s a big red warning triangle on Shout Your Name and if I try to click on it the screen goes red with the message “disconnect site”.

    AS I WROTE BEFORE.

Ok, I apologize for making you repeat yourself. It’s just that I can access https://www.shoutyourname.com/wp-login.php so I can’t see why you can’t. Sorry.

I recommend contacting GoDaddy about this. Maybe there’s something they can do. This sounds like a problem between either your hosting provider, your ISP, or your browser, but definitely not WordPress.

I had three problems with my blog and received EXCELLENT service from those WordPress forums and the issues were resolved quickly and completely. My mistake thinking I could expect the same from the website version of the forums.

    AS I SAID
I CONTACTED GoDaddy (3 posts ago).

When I go to my other WordPress sites and click on the “view sites” page of the dashboard, the Shout Your Name site has a big red triangular warning sign. When I click on it, a big red screen pops up saying “disconnect site”.

    . . . . . SOUNDS like a WordPress issue to me.

I will add your brush-off to the others.

GoDaddy says – we can access it, it’s not our problem.
Bing/Yahoo says – we can access it, it’s not our problem.
Wordpress says – WE can access it, it’s not our problem.

(Just ignore those big red warnings – you can’t do anything anyway as long as they’re there to prevent your access)

Ok, I was trying to help, but I guess it wasn’t the answer you wanted. Maybe one of the other volunteers will have an idea.
