    Alright, I need some help.

Last Thursday, I updated my Custom Content Type Manager plugin and since that happened, I’ve been getting the following error when trying to access the site or admin.

Warning: require_once(loader.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/content/38/9815338/html/testing/wp-content/plugins/custom-content-type-manager/index.php on line 110

    Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘loader.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/local/php5_3/lib/php’) in /home/content/38/9815338/html/testing/wp-content/plugins/custom-content-type-manager/index.php on line 110

The author has since put out a new release which I keep seeing has fixed other people’s problems, but I have not been successful.

I may have made it worse, but at this point, I want to know what I can do to get rid of this error and get back my access.

Here are some things I’ve done already:

Deleted the plugin from my FTP, didn’t help.
Accessed my PHP and disabled the plugins. Didn’t help.
Deleted the WordPress directory from my FTP altogether and put in a fresh new file. Didn’t help.

Went into my database and cleared that out and did a new install. Didn’t help.

Basically, I’ve tried to reset this thing to zero and I still keep getting the same error no matter what.

Right now, there is no custom content type manager plugin in the plugins folder, however, I am getting that error. Can someone please tell me what I need to do?

    Thank you.

  • You are welcome

Not sure exactly what you mean “cleared that out”. However, in order to start fresh,

    1. go into your cPanel and drop the database. That means remove it or delete completely the whole thing. Then create a new database
    2. via ftp, remove the /wordpress folder and upload a fresh one
    3. run the install

    Hey Martin,

When I said I cleared my database out, I meant I went into my CPanel and dropped the database.

I did everything your directions said and just redid them step by step and I still get that same error.

So, I went into CPanel, dropped my database, went to my FTP, deleted my /testing directory where the wordpress site was stored and after it was deleted, I recreated /testing, moved a new wordpress install into that directory and ran the install but I get the same error instead.

Seems like you did it correctly. Perhaps some kind of caching is confounding the issue. Please post your site url link and I’ll try it.

I’m not sure you’ll be able to access it, but it’s mqaweb.com/testing/

    Hi garyweldy,

I’ll echo what Martin said in terms of it possibly being a caching issue on the server.

    Can you try:
    – Delete the testing folder’s contents again.
    – Create a file called index.html, with just the word “Hello” in it.
    – Upload index.html to testing.

The browser should just display Hello when you visit mqaweb.com/testing/. If not, hit reply, and we’ll keep investigating.

    Thanks

    hey Wanderingbedou,

Thanks. I’ve deleted the /testing directory again and recreated it. I’ve added index.html to it, but am still not having any luck.

If it is indeed a caching issue, how do you dump it?

    Hey garyweldy,

This looks like a server caching issue, so you’ll have to get in touch with your web host and ask them clear it.

Let us know how it goes.

    Will do. Thanks.

Alright, another update and I’m going to apologize for my confusion in advance. I’m not much of a back end guy as I am a front end guy.

I talked to GoDaddy and explained my issue and asked them if they could flush the cache and they said that the domain in question is on a shared server. They didn’t really give much of a response besides those words. I tried asking them what that meant and the guy tried explaining it and basically suggested we move it to a dedicated server.

Honestly, I’m not familiar with the terminology, but the site was working perfectly fine up until last Thursday when I updated that plugin.

Did I just get a passive rep or is there something I need to do on my end? I’m still confused.

    Hey garyweldy,

That is an unfortunate response you got from a GoDaddy rep. It sounds like an over-ambitious Sales rep’s answer.

You definitely don’t need a dedicated server just to fix something that was clearly working before.

    Let’s try this:
    – Can you upload that same index.html file to your html folder? Not in the testing folder, but one level up.
If there is already an index.html file in there, just rename it to index.htmlOLD temporarily.

    – Visit https://mqaweb.com/ and tell me what you see.

If it’s “Hello”, try making a new folder called wordtest, and upload wordpress to there (instead of testing as we have been doing).

If it doesn’t say “Hello”, we’ll keep racking our brains ??

Hm. There is an index.html file in that folder already.
I’m not sure if you specifically need me to upload something called index.html, but I uploaded windex.htm, so it’d be https://mqaweb.com/windex.htm and when I try and access it, I’m getting a 404 page.

Okay, hang on… let me go all the way back for you incase I’ve missed something.

    (@garyweldy)

I recently started with the company and they had this test site, mqaweb.com/testing. There are actual sites based off this one so we have to test everything there first.

One day, I tried to access the FTP for it and wasn’t able to. So, I called up GoDaddy and they had me add it as a subscription within Plesk and then I was able to access the FTP for it.

When I accessed the FTP, it had all the wordpress stuff in it already, but it’s almost like this FTP directory I’m updating isn’t what I’m looking at on the web. I mean, I uploaded windex.htm but I’m getting a 404 error. That doesn’t make any sense to me.

So, right after I typed the above, I went into the FTP directory and looked at the index.html file. It’s completely different than what shows publicly (mqa logo). Obviously, I’m in the wrong directory, but it makes no sense as to where this directory I’m in came from because I didn’t create it.

I’ll have to kick this around. I don’t want to waste anyone’s time chasing a ghost.

Just talked to my boss about it. I’m pretty sure I’ve been dealing with a phantom. [insert face palm]

Sorry for racking your brains for nothing, guys.

    Hey, it happens.

At least you know what the problem isn’t, and that’s always a great thing ??

    Best regards
