This simple contact form has worked in the past for us, but it doesn’t seem to be working now. When don’t know when it stopped working. We think the problem has to do with the reCaptcha field, but can’t be sure. We’ve followed suggestions on previous threads to put the reCaptcha into No conflict mode, but it doesn’t seem to make any difference.

We also have an application form designed with WP Forms Lite which also has a reCaptcha field. That works fine. So there doesn’t seem to be a conflict with the theme or other plugins. Do we need two separate reCaptchas? And if so, how to go about getting another?

    Thanks

Hi @thesupercargo — I am sorry about the issue you are facing here!

However, I tried to submit the form and there were no errors. In case you are curious, please see this screen recording

Please review and let me know if I am missing any obvious step to replicate the issue?

    Thanks,

Hi Sebastian and thanks for your reply.

Your test video seems to work, mine does not. (See link.)

    https://pensaroundtheworld.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/test-of-use-contact-form.mp4

I installed a clean version of Opera so there wouldn’t be any caching issues, and I used my real address. As you see, everything works fine down to me clicking the submit button. Then I get “This field is required”.

(I can add that I usually use Firefox or Chrome, and I have Edge installed too, I get the same result on all browsers. I installed Opera to be sure it wasn’t a caching issue with my computer.)

    Any suggestions?

Hi @thesupercargo – Sorry to hear about the trouble you are facing here!

In this case, it looks like there might be a conflict between WPForms and another plugin or the theme.

If you’d like to test for conflict, you can begin by creating a backup of your site (if you don’t have a way to do this yet, here are some WPBeginner-recommended options).

Next, deactivate all plugins except WPForms to see if there are any changes to the issue. If so, you can reactivate them one by one while observing for any change to the plugin to identify the conflicting plugin.

If the error persists, you might want to test for theme conflict by switching to a default WordPress theme like TwentySeventeen to see if this resolves the issue. Once you’re able to identify the conflicting plugin or theme, you might want to reach out to the plugin or theme’s support to see if they can provide a solution for this.

For a detailed guide on the above troubleshooting methods, please see our article here.

    I hope this helps!
