unable hard crop for product images not working

Hi!
I don’t want my thumbnails to be hard cropped, so in settings > media I have unabled the hard crop. I am also trying to unable the hard crop checkbox in the woocommerse plugin by saving my changes in settings > products > shop > product images but as soon as I click my way from that page, the checkboxes are checked when I go back. For the new settings to work on your images I have understood you need to regenerate your thumbnails, but when I do so nothing happens. Is the problem that the checkboxes always return to hard cropped? And why do they do that?
