• Dear Sir,
    I am using wordpress 3.0.4
Whenever I try to open my web site “https://prithvirajbs.com” I get the following message:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘<‘ in /home/prithraj/public_html/wp-content/themes/bombax/includes/header.php on line 85

I tried to add a plug in to header.php file & after that this error has started showing up. I am not able to do anything with the website unless this error is eliminated. I shall be extremely grateful to anyone who can tell me how to get over this
    Thanx in advance
    BS Prithviraj

  • If you can FTP to the site try removing, or renaming to something like pluginname.hold, the plugin directory for the plugin that is causing the trouble. I would also rename the theme you are using in the themes directory so that you default back to twenty-ten and use that header for now.

I tried the methods suggested by you. But I am still getting the same error message

I have just gone to https://prithvirajbs.com and I am getting a directory entry, which shows no wp-admin folder and no themes in your theme folder. I would have expected a twentyten directory in the themes folder.

FTP the missing files to site and try again. At least the header problem has gone away!

BS Prithviraj, there is a problem in your theme files. If you switch your theme back to the default (twenty ten) your website will most likely work again, have your designer look at the header.php file to repair the file or take a look around line 85 and you will be able to see the error.

I forgot to mention that there is clealy no index file in your site directory as the contents are being listed. You must get a index.php file for wordpress in your site root as soon as possible as your files can be listed at the moment. If in doubt just copy all the files up to the site, you seem to have lost the wp-cinfig file so you will need to add your details in order to reconnect to the database.
