UM: Visitors can register but UM won’t let them log in

NOTICE: The site I’m working on is an adult content site. DO NOT VISIT IF YOU ARE THE TYPE TO BE OFFENDED.
Originally it seemed the issue I am having was a problem only for mobile devices but it also affects standard computers. Visitors to the site can register, but after registering they are brought to the login page where they are asked to enter their username and password. Submitting this info returns the error message “ERROR: Invalid Username. Lost your password?” Furthermore, the new registration is not showing up in the UM dashboard.
This is a new wrinkle since changing my theme to Twenty Fifteen. Prior to that, the theme I was using was Illdy by Colorlib, and visitors could register successfully; their username, password, role, etc. would show up in the UM dashboard. But when they went to login the plugin returned an error message saying their password was incorrect. I tried it myself and I know I was entering the proper username and password, but the plugin wouldn’t let me past the login page.
I have done the usual first steps to locate the problem. I have tried 3 themes: Illdy, Twenty Seventeen, and now Twenty Fifteen. I have disabled all other plugins. And instead of getting better or finding answers, the problem keeps getting worse. Oh, and if I disable UM there is no login or registration form that comes up on the public end (thankfully I can still log into the WP-admin area).
Does anyone know what the hell is going on or how to fix this? I can’t even begin to test things like the UM profile form or the user role restrictions until users can get past the login. Thank you in advance.
