UM, recaptcha problems and menu broken

Since yesterday I suddenly have several problems with my site:

1. Submenu items suddenly appear at the basic level even though the menu seems fine in the dashboard.
2. People who register receive a message from the registration form: reCAPTCHA: it is very likely a bot and then the registration hangs and I as an admin do not receive a new registration email.
3. In the dashboard under users it says: Waiting for review (1), but when I click on it, nothing appears.
4. If I want to manually create a new user, it does not appear. If I search for the corresponding email address, it already exists, even though I just created it, but the user with that address cannot be found. Searching for that email address also yields no results.

Everything has worked flawlessly, I normally also use Ultimate Member, but I have temporarily disabled this as well as all plugins.
I also did a test with a different theme to see if the menu is OK. Which is not the case.

Even with all plugins disabled or a different theme, the problem still persists.
Anyone have any ideas?

I suddenly realized that I received a message that Ultimate member needed to be updated, but both before and after installing the update I noticed the problem with the submenu links that are now in the root of the menu. It is possible that Ultimate Member no longer functions and that the underlying submenus have therefore come to the surface. Because Ultimate Member is no longer displayed properly in the menu? But then why doesn’t the menu appear normally when UM is completely disabled?

More importantly: how can this be fixed?
