    Hi,

I’m have a multilingual site with UM enabled. The default site works fine, however, when I try to switch to the translated page (chinese), it returns a 404 error on the clicked pages. You can see a video below of how it’s happening.

The thing here is, when I tried to deactivate UM, the issue got fixed and all pages including translated ones load correctly. Has anyone ever had an experience like this? Thoughts from anyone?

    Thanks.

  • Hi, I actually had a sililiar issue a few days back on a page. It did seem to loop the page somehow and yes, UM was responsible for this loop. I found the error here:

When a page is missing and not being translated to this loop can occur. For me it happened cause Logout page was missing in the secondary WPML language.

So make sure all pages that UM created exist in all languages, otherwise this can happen. Good luck!

Thanks for the tip, @endeavouren! I’ll double check the translated pages and see if I might have overlooked some of them. I’ll let you know how it goes. Thanks again!

@endeavouren, I double checked and made sure all pages has been translated but it still didn’t work. However, here’s the catch, I tried using a parameterized language format and 404 errors were gone! (I actually didn’t try it earlier since I wanted to push through with the directory based format) But do you have any ideas why it’s happening if I use the directory based format? Or thoughts from anyone? And any workaround to still push through to using that format?

    Thanks!

Sorry, I have no idea why… Good luck anyway!

So I just stayed on using the language parameter instead. No luck for me. ??
