• Has anyone written a super-simple “add image to post” plugin that doesn’t deal with any sort of image management? All I want to do is click a button from the edit page, which will allow me to upload a single image, enter ALT text, and then add that image to the post. Nothing more than that. Just want to get an image from my hard drive to my blog post in as few clicks as possible; right now, I have to upload via the Upload screen, then click the “add image” link, then select the image I want from the image library, then confirm that I’ve selected the right one, and so on and so forth — it’s like 9 clicks!! There’s a great one of these for b2, but I haven’t seen anything for WP. Does such a thing exist?

  • Honestly, I’d love to see that built into WP – a nice, little popup upload window that’ll insert the code directly from the add/edit post/page screen ??

The htmlarea (WYSIWYG) plugin thats on here somewhere, has one built into it when you click the image button.

It’s what I’m using on my website and it works good (WP 1.5)

I do like how vBulletin does it tho, there’s is all simple you can copy and paste an article from another page, even if it has an image or something in it. vB takes all the and parses it into your article. It will insert the image (showing the thumbnail), it’ll insert any special colors it was using, etc.

Unfortunately, I’ve never been able to get the htmlarea plugin to work properly. (or any wysiwyg wp tool, for that matter).
If something like this appears, I hope to hear about it.

I use Florian Jung’s Image Browser plugin. Of course, you still have to use the “Upload” tool in WordPress first, but once there it is a snap to do a number of things to the image, even link it to a full page image. It can be found at:

I too think that there should be an “ultra-simple image upload plugin” that works as he described: browse and select image (maybe also type in alt text), then automatically upload and attach code for the image upon posting the article.

Is it possible to request something like this for the next version of WP??
